Summer is here!! However, lets prepare for a mini heatwave with sun protection packed in your child’s bag, a sun hat and sun lotion. It’s advisable that you apply sun protection to your child before attending their timed session. Please remember that last year’s sun lotion goes out of date this year and will not protect as well. Please ensure lunch boxes contain a cool pack to keep food cold until midday when we eat.

It’s with great sadness to announce that Miss Sam left us on the 18th May. We all wish her well in her new venture. She is moving to a nursery setting closer to her home in Plymouth. Sam has worked with us for 9 years, she will miss you all dearly.

We have appointed a new staff member, Miss Donna, who has now started with us. She is initially covering holidays in all rooms but in time will be based in the toddler and baby rooms.

As you may be aware, the new General Data Protection Regulation is now in force. We are all signed up with ICO, which we have used for the last 4 years. We have updated our policies and procedures to accommodate the new system.

If you have any questions with how we store your details, please feel free to ask. Please could you return the registration forms as requested which are in line with the new legislation.

Don’t forget to sign your child in and out. This is very important, in case of a fire or other emergencies. This is found on the desk.

If you drop your child off later then their booked in time, this does not mean you can pick up later then their booked in finishing time, unless previously booked in with a member of staff. If you think you are going to be late, please let us know as we will need to try and arrange a member of staff to stay and cover the ratio. You are welcome to extend your day if you are struggling to get here for your booked times.

We have installed a CCTV system which will become active from Monday 11th June 2018. This is for the safety of all our children and staff. You should have received a letter with full details of this system, if not, we have copies in the nursery or we can email one to you. If you have any questions, please ask Jo or Debbie.

In a bid to contact as many people as quickly as possible we have made a Facebook page. This is to share current ideas and legislation with you as we receive it. It is also a means of getting messages out quickly in the case of snow, sunny weather etc… If you would like to be added, please follow the link on the website.

Thank you to those of you who have booked in holiday sessions and confirmed days off during the summer. Please let us know of any holidays booked, or days off so we can staff the nursery accordingly.

We are busy preparing leaving transition forms for our school leavers, these will be added to their Tapestry accounts. We would like to add their foundation teacher to this account, so we are able to share the information with them on tapestry quickly and easily. Permission to share this information will be in the form of a permission slip, which the keyperson will share with you.

We will be having our school leavers party in the park on Thursday 19th July 2-3:30 pm at Yelverton play park. It will be great to see as many school leavers and their families there. We will have a play in the park, share a snack and drink before they receive their leaving gift and presentation. It’s a lovely event to celebrate their journey with us and as they move on to their new beginnings, we hope you can join us.

We constantly review our charges and you may have heard a suggestion that from September, the times where we accept funded childcare will change, but this is not the case. We will review again at the end of the winter term, but we hope to keep our current rates until the Living Wage and Pension contributions next increase in April 2019.

Remember there are many ways that parents can get help with their childcare costs, so please do ask us if you are in any doubt that you may qualify or visit this page on our website;

We have received the delivery of our caterpillars, we will be looking closely at their life cycles, and enjoying a range of activities around these changes.

Please feel free to give us any feedback.
