May Newsletter 2021

Well…….. where did that time go? In a flash it’s the month of May! Easter eggs finished and now to concentrate putting on sun cream!

Talking of sun cream means sun protection. Please pack sun cream in your child’s bag (clearly marked with their name) for us to apply when they go out in the garden or on the moors for a walk. Sadly, if they don’t have their own sun cream it will mean they can’t be out in the sunshine for more than ten minutes, which would be very sad for them. Also a sunhat would be very useful, we do have some in the nursery but we can’t supply sun cream because of allergy’s etc.

I will continue to supply hot soup, spaghetti hoops and Alphabetti shapes through May at no extra cost to you. I still don’t feel we can reheat meals brought in from home (due to government guidelines). Providing something hot at lunchtime is an option you can choose to use through the month of May. I have compiled a daily menu for you to choose from which I’ll update from time to time.

This month’s menu is:

  • Monday – Cream of Tomato Soup
  • Tuesday – Alphabetti Pasta Shapes in tomato sauce
  • Wednesday – Spaghetti Hoops
  • Thursday – Alphabetti Pasta Shapes in tomato sauce
  • Friday – Cream of Tomato Soup

All the above will be served with bread and butter.

We will be supplying cheese and biscuits, toast, crumpets and fruit for our high tea at 4pm.

We also still supply fruit, toast and milk at snack time.

With this in mind, please do not send your child in with food to be heated through May.

Please let me know in advance what your child would like by emailing me or using the Contact Form.

If you send your child in wearing wellies, could you please pack them up with a pair of shoes or slippers to change into once inside the nursery.

We like to keep our photo albums up to date in each room but we’ve discovered some children have no family photos on their page. Please could you send updated photos of your child’s family members (siblings, Grandma, Grandad, Aunties, Uncles and Pets) stating clearly who they all are.

As you may be aware, all of the staff have been lateral flow testing and most of us have had our first and second  Covid 19 vaccinations. We have not had a positive test at Edgemoor since the beginning of the pandemic. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you and my staff for abiding by government guidelines to stop the spread of Covid 19.

We are still adhering to government guidelines with strict hygiene measures and sterilizing of all toys daily. I’m still asking you to wear face coverings when dropping off and collecting your child from Edgemoor and for this still to be done Could you please not send your child to nursery if they are showing any symptoms of Covid 19? They need to be clinically well and not Calpol dependent. Please be mindful, if your child is poorly and not able to cope with their illness, you will receive a phone call from us. It takes one of us out of ratio to sit and care for them until you arrive to collect them.

The May/June half term and summer holidays are fast approaching. We are open for these periods but have limited extra space as we staff the holidays around the permanently booked in children. Excess capacity is filling up very quickly, so please put your child space request in ASAP. Those that are booked in all year are already booked in, this is only applicable for term time children only or all year children having extra days over this holiday period. Also, please let us know when you need holiday booked off for your child.
