June Newsletter 2021

Yes, that bright yellow ball in the sky is the sun!! Please pack sun cream in your child’s bag (clearly marked with their name) for us to apply when they go out in the garden or on the moors for a walk. Sadly, if they don’t have their own sun cream they will miss going out in the sunshine for more than 10 minutes, which would be very sad for them. Also a sunhat would be very useful, we do have some in the nursery but we can’t supply sun cream because of allergy’s etc.

Recently there have been changes to the EYFS statutory framework and the Development Matters which we use as our statutory and non-statutory curriculum. These changes will not come into force until September 2021. In the meantime, I will deliver training to all of the Edgemoor staff (and myself) and we will work through these new changes and give you more information and how we will produce a new version of your child’s next steps and how they will achieve them. This will still be supported by our online learning Journal “Tapestry”. We are very excited and I will give you more details in July.

From Monday 7th June we will no longer be suppling hot food for lunchtimes as the weather has now improved so much. With the continued guidelines set out by our local authority, currently we will still NOT able to heat any food brought in but we do require you to send in cold lunches for your child and we still require you to pack this in throw away packaging please. Sadly, we don’t have enough space to store lunches in our fridge, so could you please also insert an ice pack to keep your child’s lunch cool and at a safe temperature?

We always supply cheese and biscuits, toast, crumpets and fruit for our high tea at 4pm. We also still supply fruit, toast and milk at snack time.

Sadly, Philippa will be leaving us on the 22nd June. She is moving back to Bristol to be with her partner. She has been a marvellous member of staff and she will be dearly missed by us all. We wish her well and hope she visits us again in the future. On a happy note, we have welcomed a new member of staff to replace Philippa. Her name is Millie, who has just moved down from Bristol to be with her partner!! How bizarre how things happen in a small world. Millie is from this area and enjoys outdoor activities and has a keen interest with teaching children and art. She has settled in well and we look forward to introducing her to you all.

We will be having a leaving party for the eight children leaving to begin their next chapter of their lives by starting primary school in September. Details will be sent out shortly.

If you send your child in wearing wellies, could you please pack them up with a pair of shoes or slippers to change into once inside the nursery.

We are still adhering to strict government guidelines of strict hygiene measures and sterilizing of all toys daily. I’m still asking you to wear face coverings when dropping off and collecting your child from Edgemoor and for this still to be done from the garden gate at the side of the building.

We are still asking for you NOT to send your child to nursery if they are showing any symptoms of Covid 19. They are also to be clinically well and not Calpol dependent. Please be mindful, if your child is poorly and not able to cope with their illness, you will receive a phone call from us. It takes one of us out of ratio to sit and care for them until you arrive to collect them.

We only have seven weeks left of this summer term (funded hours). As we are open during the summer holidays, we have limited space available due to staff holidays being taken at this time. We are filling up very quickly, so please put your child space request in ASAP. Those that are booked in all year are already booked in, this is only applicable for term time children or all year children having extra days over this holiday period. Also, for full time children, please let us know when you need holiday booked off for your child.
