July Newsletter 2021

Ha, me again, hope you’re all keeping safe and well ?!! Just a few changes, some new bits of information to relay to you and some important reminders.

Please, please pack sun cream in your child’s bag (clearly marked with their name) for us to apply when they go out in the garden or on the moors for a walk. Sadly, if they don’t have their own sun cream this means they will miss going out in the sunshine for more than 10 minutes, which would be very sad for them. A sunhat would also be very useful, we do have some in the nursery but we can’t supply sun cream because of allergy’s etc.

With the continued guidelines set out by our local authority, throughout July we will still NOT be able to heat ANY food from home and we do require you to send in cold lunches for your child in throw away packaging.

Sadly, we don’t have enough space to store lunches in our fridge, so could you please also insert an ice pack to keep your child’s lunch cool and at a safe temperature. We will be supplying cheese and biscuits, toast, crumpets, fruit and sometimes cake for our high tea at 4pm. We also still supply fruit, toast and milk at snack time.

If you send your child in wearing wellies, could you please pack them up with a pair of shoes or slippers to change into once inside the nursery.

As you may be aware there is an unpleasant new “mild winter virus” affecting 0–5-year-olds doing the rounds. The symptoms are a high temperature, a cough and it is sometimes accompanied with vomiting and diarrhoea. We are still adhering to strict government COVID guidelines with our hygiene measures and sterilizing of all toys daily and I feel that with this action we are keeping all infection rates down, including this new virus. At present, we have not had any COVID infections and only had three cases of this new “mild winter virus”. This has only been possible thanks to the efforts of everyone, all staff and all parents. If your child shows any symptoms: i.e.: Temperature above 37.8C, vomiting or diarrhoea, we will phone you to collect them.

We are still asking for you to not send your child to nursery if they are showing any symptoms of Covid 19. They are also to be clinically well and not Calpol dependent. Please be mindful, if your child is poorly and not able to cope with their illness, you will receive a phone call from us. It takes one of us out of ratio to sit and care for them until you arrive to collect them. Please be mindful of this.

I’m still asking you to drop off and collect your child from the garden gate at the side of the building.

We only have four weeks and two days left of this summer funded term. The Monday and Tuesday 26th and 27th July are included in the funding allowance, so they will be no funding from Wednesday the 28th July until the autumn funding term starts on Monday the 6th September 2021.

As we are open during the summer holidays, we now only have very limited space available due to staff holidays being taken at this time. We are almost full, so please put your child space request in ASAP. However, the first week of September is already full due to new babies and toddlers starting at this time, which in turn increases our adult/child ratios. Those that are booked in all year are already booked in, this is only applicable for term time children only or all year children having extra days over this holiday period but September is now classified as our new term, so school leavers will have to book separately in if space allows. Please be mindful of this. Also, please let us know when you need holiday booked off for your full time child.

Term dates into 2022

Summer Term last funding day: Tuesday 27th July 2021
Autumn funding term starts: Monday 6th September 2021
Autumn Half Term: Monday 25th October to Friday 29th October 2021 (No funding)
Autumn Term last funding day: Friday 17th December 2021
